Do you wish you had more hours in the day?
Wouldn’t life be amazing if you could come home from your day job full of energy, spend quality time with your kids, listen to your wife, have a family dinner, and then work on your your songwriting craft into the evening?
Then, you lay your head down for a full 8 hours, awaking with a smile on your face and a jump in your step.
But it’s never that.
You’d have to be living in a worship leader cave to not recognize the resurgence of hymns in contemporary worship.
Hymns are here to stay. And as worship leaders, it’s important that we use them.
We all have our favorite songs – songs we sing over and over.
Songs that ignite a room.
Songs that make you cry, shout, rejoice, and sing at the top of your lungs.
It’s the plight of all songwriters.
We want our songs to be known, sung, and loved by the world. But rarely do they move past our own ears or the ears of our dogs.
It’s not that your worship songs aren’t catchy enough.
It’s not that they need more lyrics, better arrangements, and slicker production.
