It’s tough to be a worship leader today without the influence of Paul Baloche, whether you know it or not.
His songs have found their way into churches all over the world, along with his down-to-earth, practical training for worship teams. It was such an honor to talk with him about his new Live album and all things worship.
I love how Paul’s heart has always been for the Sunday morning worshiper and worship leader. That’s what this conversation is all about.
And, we’ll be giving away 3 copies of the CD/DVD combo if you leave a comment and share the interview. Don’t miss it!

Dan Allshouse says
Paul Baloche’s “Open the Eyes of My Heart Lord” was what got me into worship leading. It was my inspiration. I owe my musical abilities to God but to Paul as well because without God leading this man to do what he does I would have never picked up the guitar and eventually go on to lead worship for almost 10 years at a Church in NY.

Paul is the real deal. There was such a natural give and take in this conversation, wonderful interview – both of you! Love his advice for keeping your heart fresh towards the Lord.

I loved Paul’s story of leading worship in India..very powerful.. also I love his heart for equipping the local church… How he just tried to fill needs that he met along the way and it grew into who God has called him to be..
Christian Garlitz says
I love his explanation in songwriting: having the verses tell the story and the chorus be the response to that! Really powerful. Very helpful to me as a worship leader/songwriter.
Thanks Dave for making this available to us!

I’ve been listening to Paul’s music ever since is first album “He Is Faithful” back when I was in high school. He was one of the worship leaders that influenced me the most during my early years in leading worship in my youth group and he continues to write songs that speak God’s truth without being too poetic or mystic. I like how he reminded us that our first priority is to minister unto the Lord and everything else will fall into place.

Just yesterday week we put “God My Rock” on PCO for our team to learn. We are also rehearsing “He is Risen” for Easter (introducing it to the congregation next week). I am so encouraged by Paul and how he writes songs that are heart-felt prayers and also SO accessible to the church! Thanks for getting this interview out in order to further encourage us worship leaders – especially in being faithful right where we are! I’ll be sure to share this on Twitter!
David Santistevan says
Thanks Craig! We just introduced “He is Risen” last weekend and it went so well. A really great, engaging song.

Two things about Paul I love: First his attitude and his demeanor are fantastic. I think he’s a great role model for all worship leaders. I like his story about how he thought, “I’m just a guitar player.” This from one of the great icons of worship music! The message about giving your all right where you are is the most important thing I believe worship musicians and singers need to understand about their role.
Neal E. says
First, I love that he’s from my neck of the woods…Jersey!! 🙂
Seriously though, he’s always been an example to me of what it is to be a leader, teacher, and how to Pastor people in worship. I’ve found his teaching resources helpful and I’ve used what I’ve learned to help the team move forward as well.
I agree with his idea of traveling somewhere else as a team, when you’re abroad, you see things with a new perspective, also what a great way to bond as a team!
Thanks David, for this podcast, one of my favs! You are serving and providing such a great resource to all the teams out there…God bless!
