There was a book I read in college that challenged me deeply. It was called Thriving As an Artist in the Church. It was pastoral, wise, and carried compassion for both artists and pastors.
Then I went on to read a prior book called The Heart of the Artist. Both books were by this guy Rory Noland. And today we have the privilege of hearing from this legend.
We talk church, contemplative worship, spiritual formation, leading artists, and more.
Straight fire!

Is there a worship team tool you can’t live without? For me, that’s Planning Center. I remember the days of excel spreadsheets and phone calls trying to nail down who was going to be available for Sunday. When we switched to Planning Center nearly 10 years ago, it changed the game for us. All of a sudden, we had an all-in-one solution for scheduling our teams, coordinating schedules, communicating about weekend details, and getting responses from band members.
A week doesn’t go by where I don’t use Planning Center.
No matter the size of your church, there’s a Planning Center option for you. Trust me. There’s no better way to schedule and communicate with your team.
Planning Center is offering a 30 day FREE trial so you can see for yourself how amazing this service is. After the 30 days are up, pricing all depends on the size of your church. I can say it’s worth the investment of every penny. It’s an easy, low cost solution that yields incredible results.

Thanks alot David, it was wonderful listening from you and Rory. it was my first time listening, actually knowing of Rory and i really loved your sharing. For someone like I being a worship leader in my community Church in Uganda, this has been very inspiring especially in how to grow and build up the team. you have given great insights which is gold to me, i can’t wait to contextual and apply to my singing ministry as an individual and at ministry level.
God bless you
