Finding the best corporate worship songs can be tricky.
I’m sure you’ve been there.
- You love the artistic quality of a song but realize the average person doesn’t get it.
- You can’t find any good fast songs.
- You know you should do a hymn but can’t find any you like.
- You’re trying to strike a balance between robust theology and simple melody.
I know what it’s like. While this isn’t a comprehensive list of my favorite songs, these are songs I can’t wait to lead at my church.
At the end of this post, I’d love to hear yours.

What worship songs are you excited to introduce at your church? Let us know in the comments!
Julie says
Great post. One that has really been “singing” to my heart lately is “Speak Now Jesus” Tim and Jon neufeld of Starfield. Simple, singable melody and a great prayer
David Santistevan says
I’m not familiar with that, Julie, but I do like Starfield. I’ll check it out!

Everyone loves a list! Here’s my top 10 songs I’d love to lead in worship (if only I a voice that wouldnt leave everyone running for the doors). Here’s a ling to the playlist in spotify for anyone who has the app. (spotify:user:121292622:playlist:08zrIsyVQV3vBOEHrfsGzr)
1. Set me free by Casting Crowns. I chose this first, because I did a drama to this song at my old church, and it was one of the most powerful things I ever experienced. to be a part of it and see people brought to tears by the love of God is just amazing!
2. No Sacrafice sung by Tod McVicker. I love the idea of this song for worship, to offer ourselves to God. We are his!
3. Consuming Fire sung by Christ for the Nations. The first time I heard this song I fell in love with it, and always felt I truely just worshiped God when I would sing this, as if everything else would fade away and I’d be consumed by his prescense.
4. Offering by Paul Boloche. just as no sacrafice calls us to be his, this song does the same for me. just offering our lives and giving it all to God.
5. Facedown by Matt Redmann. very intimate song. one of my favorites for a deeper worship. and the ending makes you worhsip! LET YOUR GLORY SHINE AROUND!!
6. Tear down the walls by Hillsong. This is one of my favorite songs I enjoy singing to worship God alone. I start out with this just to get started.
7. Glory come down sung by Christ for the Nations. I remember singing this for worship quite a few times, always been one of my favorite songs to sing for my Lord.
8. Worhty is the Lamb sung by Hillsong. this was another song that was used for a “silent” worship/drama. It was a very moving performance and a great worship song that would be great to lead in service sometime.
9. I want to be used by you by Deluge. This not only would be great to lead in worship, but is a great delcaration we should all strive for, I want to be used by you!
10. Worlds Apart by Jars of Clay. this one is just my all time favorite song. such a powerful song. I’d love to see someone use this in worship.
David Santistevan says
Great list, Ryan. Some new ones for me to check out!
Jennifer says
“Here and Now” by Eddie Kirkland, specifically for our youth worship time. I love its heart and energy.
David Santistevan says
Jennifer, this is such a great song. Eddie’s new EP is one of my favorites!
Paul Kordon says
Your list is approved. There’s some great stuff on here. Can’t wait to check out some of them I haven’t heard yet.
Brandon says
I would say my top 5 are:
-You’re Beautiful by Phil Wickham
-White Flag by Tomlin
-Yes You Have by leeland
-One Thing Remains by bethel Live
-This Love Will Last Forever by Phil Wickham
David Santistevan says
Have you led White Flag yet? I’m interested to hear how it went with everyone.
Brandon says
Yes…It went over really well! Tons of people came up to me and said that they downloaded the song and that it is their new favorite.
I highly recommend it!
Paul Kordon says
Don’t laugh but we did ‘Be Still’ by The Fray not too long ago and it was very worshipful. Had a few people ask where they could find the song! 😮
David Santistevan says
You included in the worship set or as a special?
Jay says
So… big Jason Ingram fan huh? 🙂
Great list though! I have many of them in my que. Also have:
After All (Holy) Crowder
At Your Name: Tim Hughes Phil Wickham
All the Poor and Powerless: All Sons and Daughters (though i like The Digital Age’s version better)
David Santistevan says
It’s crazy that Jason Ingram co-writes with EVERYONE 🙂 I guess I do love his style of writing.
“At Your Name” is one of my favorites, too. I should have included that. Thanks Jay!

Janice Lowden says
I’d love to lead new songs at the church I serve. A major concern is copyrights. Legally and ethically, words should not be printed or displayed on a screen unless one has permission from the author/songwriter. We have CCLI, but the newer songs aren’t available. Individual permissions are very expensive. We’re not a large, wealthy congregation. How do others deal with these issues?
David Santistevan says
Janice, if a song isn’t available on CCLI I would still do it. Just keep checking back and seeing if it’s there. Most new songs are. What songs haven’t you found?
JMe Lowden says
I’m a bit concerned. You say that even if you don’t have the copyright permission to print out, make copies for worship use, or project the words of a song, you use it anyway? Isn’t that a copyright violation, and doesn’t that deny the composer/lyricist the acknowledgement and royalties he/she deserves for the piece? I understand that merely performing the piece is not as much a problem; however, I feel obligated to give credit where credit is due–not to mention compensation for the music ministry that the brother or sister has provided.
David Santistevan says
Janice, I’m not an expert in copyrights, but if a song isn’t on CCLI I would still lead the song at my church. Now, if I was going to record the song in any way I would be sure to get permission from the author.
Kyle Nordin says
So many great songs listed, i’m really listening a ton to Matt Redman, 10000 reasons and that specific song in particular.
Doug Black says
DAVID! You have to see this from Digital Age, the leftover guys from DCB. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=-iG2wUL1vTY
Also, we just introduced Lay me Down. Great song…the bridge flows so well!
David Santistevan says
Glad to hear “Lay Me Down” went well. Will hopefully lead it in the next few months.
Dude, love this Digital Age stuff! Thanks for the introduction.
Jamie Nunnally says
I can’t wait to lead “Healing is Here” off the new Deluge CD. We already do “Whisper His Name” and the people love it.
David Santistevan says
I haven’t given that album enough listens. Maybe I will now 🙂
jay bourne says

David Santistevan says
Some new stuff for me to check out here, Jay. Thanks!
Wes Schmunk says
David, I love these kind of lists, as I have not heard many of these songs, but I will certainly look them up. My tend to try and be very careful in using new songs. I might really really like one, but I make myself hold off using it, and really consider whether it will work with our congregation, or whether they are ready to engage with a particular song. I have held on to some songs for several years before using them in our regular worship services.
Please do a regular posting like this. It is a great resource.
David Santistevan says
I love to post lists, Wes. Stay tuned for more! Thanks.
Adam Durham says
David. Were doing “Great I Am” from the new life church project.
Just an amazing song. IMO…

good to check out the above songs — thanks!
“Dance With Me” by Chris Quilala (Jesus Culture)– esp. if the guitarist can nail the solo — it’s a deeper depth of intimacy …
David Santistevan says
“Dance With Me” is a cool song, though I don’t think I would lead it corporately. More a matter of preference, but singing those phrases can be confusing for a lot of people. Have you heard the old version of that song by Paul Wilbur?
n8 says
I hear ya. It’s kind of a challenge to another level of worship — like entering the “secret place” of the Most High. (Brings to mind the song “Wrap Me In Your Arms”by Daniel Grothe & Michael Gungor — great song!)
I just googled Paul Wilbur’s version. First time I heard that one. interesting. very worshipful stuff.
David Santistevan says
Do you do songs like that consistently on Sunday morning?
n8 says
“Like that”– if you mean a big focus on God’s love in more of an “emotional” aspect, not necessarily consistently, but if you mean an emphasis on taking a bit more time in worship to worship/linger/not rush through/giving the congregation time to really connect in praise & worship to God, yeah I would say we do (ie. also songs like Revelation Song, Our God, Overcome, Healer, Jesus Messiah, etc).
David Santistevan says
Cool. Thanks for the insight.
BG says
I hope this doesn’t come across arrogant, b/c thats not the heart behind it…but I’d love for you to consider trying the song Glorious and/or All Praises Rise from my album, A Love Better Than Life. Or maybe during communion the song Surrounded. The only reason I mention these, along with all the other great songs mentioned in this post, are b/c they’ve worked well not only at my Church where I lead weekly, but also when we’ve played them in other places who aren’t as familiar with my songs.
Thanks David. Love your blog, bro!
David Santistevan says
I’m glad you shared this, Brandon. More people should hear your music!
BG says
Thanks David. I appreciate that man.
Matthew Starner says
I’ve really been digging “God is Able” by Ben Fielding and Reuben Morgan. We did end up changing the key to make it easier for everyone to sing, but it’s still powerful and I love leading it!
